We loved you so much that we were delighted to share with you not only the gospel of God but our life as well, because you had become so dear to us.

Bob Bowman's Story

Bob Bowman Family 2006
Jesus The King For Our Family

There is a place where all of me, will rest forevermore,
‘Tis here in this remembrance, with Jesus knocking on my door…
He said to all who open, their heart and let him in,
He'd come inside with blessings, and show us all our sin…

We welcomed him on the day he called, we heard his gentle voice,
He seemed to quiet all of our hearts, as we made him our first choice…
He chose a person with a heart, and gave her all his love,
To bring the other members, and send them from above…

He said I'll called her Sylvia, then gave her righteousness,
So He could send her children, with lives that He would bless…

It didn't take him very long, and soon we had five boy's,
He sent them oh so lovingly, and they didn't make much noise…
That is until the two girls , with their own special ways,
Would join the group of healthy boys', with love for all our day's

He gave us joy and happiness, as his love drew us together,
We never worried much at all, ‘bout clouds or stormy weather…
Yet the treasure that belongs to us, he gave so tenderly,
His Son that holds us all so close, and brings us harmony….

By Bob Bowman

I was born into a family of eight children. It may have been to create some sort of balance because I was the 4th child and the second of four boy's. In my first realization of this, I immediately became conscious of the task ahead. My reasoning power assured me of plenty of competition in all fields. Such as: Brains, Abilities, Good Looks and a popular personality. My father's personality appealed to every one because he had the ability to make people laugh, a talent that I have always tried to emulate. The one thing I longed for was a love that I could share with all people. That longing is still a very big part of me today. I worked on developing a great relationship with my dad that would enable us to communicate on his level. He was a very busy person and if I received half of his attention I thought that I was developing and growing into the person that I wanted to be, like him.

I attended one of the largest high schools in the state of Iowa, graduating in 1950. I was very popular with one girl and too bashful to compete for others. However, I hadn't realized at the time that our blessed Savior had that part of my life all worked out and he has guarded it for 46 years.

After high school graduation our uncle sent me a personal invitation to join an elite group of young men. He sent us to Japan where I would spend 19 months touring the country playing football, baseball and track, while I was attending to my duties as house captain for the “Post Fire Department. I was honorably discharged in August of 1953.

The years that followed were very challenging. To continue and develop in my father's occupation, as a livestock buyer. By now I had a very lovely wife and the first of seven children. Gifted with five boy's in six years our Lord fulfilled our dreams with two girls to wash and dry the dishes, trained by our five boys.

The seven children are now grown, with four married and all graduated from three different colleges.

Jesus entered our family in a personal way in 1972, and God is still working on all of us. We Praise His Holy Name for his companionship, patience, and most of all his mercies.

They truly are New Every Morning.

God's Initial GiftsTo us..and then there were nine.

A Life, And A Life Within A Life

Should we know and understand that the life God has given to us is actually within us, and the most important part of us. In my earlier days the most important part of my life was physical and it demanded of me to compete, and to be superior in whatever I undertook to do. With me it was a very short lived assessment, and I quickly learned what was within my grasp, and what was beyond it. Most people were better equipped than I was, but I wondered where their talents would take them. Athletically, many were over achievers and gifted with great success. It seemed many were intellectually bound for the higher things in life. Although my brain seemed adequate, I never wanted all of it to be exposed at once. So my thought process lingered to the outer limits of my understanding, then it would return in the form of contentment… I am what I am, and I seemed to understand that it was all from God. I felt he loved me for understanding that part of me, as well as loving Him for his presence in my life. But how does my God relate to my contentment ? Did he want me to become someone that no one else was, with the equipment that he had gifted me with. And most importantly, did I understand his gifts and how to use them.

I understood the first gift to be considered was the gift of love. I have never found anyone in my travels who didn't need it, and most recognized their need for it.

God has gifted many with the wonderful gift of music, which is a real blessing to all of us.

He gifted me with turning wonderful words of praise to him, into a form of poems that are meant to glorify our Lord, as well as a source of fellowship with other believers.

A large part of the desire that caused me to write “A Chosen Life” came from the gift of writing poems. First and foremost, however, was the never ending passion to have people everywhere know and Trust The Lord Jesus Christ. To be able to praise him for who he is, as well as gain the salvation that he died to give them.
